Position Details

Department: Admissions, Financial Aid, Recruitment and Registrar

Location: Kingsborough Community College

Employment Type: Full-Time, Temporary (One-Year Appointment)

Reports To: Director of the area

The Substitute NYSOP Enrollment Coordinator (Substitute Assistant to the Higher Education Officer) will serve as the primary coordinator for the New York State Opportunity Programs (NYSOP). This one-year position plays a critical role in ensuring compliance with state regulations, supporting student success, and managing the day-to-day operations of NYSOP within the area of interest (Admissions, Financial Aid, Recruitment or Registrar).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary coordinator for NYSOP operations within the assigned enrollment area.
  • Monitor student eligibility, academic progress, and program participation to ensure compliance with New York State Education Department (NYSED) regulations.
  • Prepare and submit accurate and timely reports and documentation to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain confidential student records using systems such as CUNYfirst, Slate, and other college platforms.
  • Provide high-quality service and support to prospective and current students, families, and community partners regarding NYSOP eligibility, benefits, and requirements.
  • Collaborate with Opportunity Program staff and other campus departments to support student retention and success.
  • Assist with audits, site visits, and program evaluations conducted by internal and state agencies.
  • Participate in recruitment, outreach, and onboarding activities as needed to support enrollment goals.
  • Communicate effectively with students and staff using email, phone, and the college’s CRM platform.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives and ensure accuracy and efficiency in enrollment-related workflows.
  • Perform related duties as assigned by the supervisor of the assigned enrollment area.

Qualifications

Required: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution required. Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills. Ability to manage sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.

Preferred: Experience working in a student services area or a related field.

CUNY Title Overview

Supports student enrollment activities and processing. Provides direct student services and works collaboratively with other units to support registration, payment, and related activities. Conducts workshops on enrollment management services and processes. Counsels students, staff and faculty on academic registration, admissions, testing, and related processing. Manages student information databases and resolves issues with student records and transactions. Ensures compliance with college, Federal, and New York State regulations and policies. Creates and updates content for web pages, bulletins, and other media to ensure effective communications to students and campus community. May supervise clerical and/or part-time staff and coordinate work schedules. Performs related duties as assigned.
