OB/GYN Hospitalist Fellowship
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of California, Irvine invites applications for the OB/GYN Hospitalist Fellowship Program. The OB/GYN Hospitalist Fellowship Program is the first in the country to offer an interdepartmental hospital-based curriculum. This program is a two-year fellowship designed to provide high-quality, advanced education in hospital-based obstetrics and gynecology focused on maximizing patient safety. It provides a strong blend of clinical, surgical, and healthcare systems training in both academic and community-based hospital settings. Fellows have the option of one- or two-year tracks. The one-year track is designed for physicians specifically interested in gaining skills to excel in hospital medicine. Upon completion of the two-year track, fellows will graduate with a Master in Applied Science in Patient Safety and Quality in addition to training in OB Hospitalist medicine. This track is designed for physicians who want to become leaders in the field.
Responsibilities will include providing patient care, teaching clinical programs, performing University and public service, and demonstrating professional competency and activity. Fellows will rotate through a high-risk Labor & Delivery unit as well as consulting in Emergency Room and other units at the University Hospital, in addition to having significant exposure to a community-based private practice population. Fellows in the two-year track will complete coursework for a Masters program, which is offered online.

Qualifications
Basic qualifications (required at time of application)
- Candidates must possess an MD or DO, or equivalent degree.
- Candidate must have completed an ACGME-accredited four-year Obstetrics and Gynecology residency program prior to the start date of the fellowship program. A graduate of a foreign medical school must have a standard ECFMG certificate and have completed postgraduate training in the United States.
- Candidate must obtain a California medical license, in addition to being ABOG board-eligible or board-certified prior to the start date of the fellowship program.
