Job Profile Title: Industrial Hygienist B
Job Description Summary: Under the direction of the Associate Director for Occupational Safety Programs, the Occupational Safety Professional will provide support to the University's environmental health and safety programs designed to protect students, faculty, staff, and visitors from hazards they may encounter at the University of Pennsylvania.
Job Responsibilities
- Perform job safety analysis. Analyze job tasks and develop written recommendations to eliminate or minimize job hazards. Prescribe administrative and engineering controls and recommend personal protective equipment as required.
- Investigate employee injuries and near-misses. Document investigations and make recommendations to prevent recurrence. Communicate findings to the appropriate at-risk employees.
- Inspect University facilities for compliance with safety-related best practices and Occupational Safety and Health and Administration (OSHA) and national consensus standards. Provide written recommendations to eliminate or minimize the identified concerns.
- Develop and present various safety training programs for faculty, staff and students.
- Participate in the development, updating and implementation of university-wide safety policies and programs.
- Conduct periodic inspections of personal protective equipment and safety-related engineering controls.
- Perform employee exposure monitoring to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and guidelines
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, or related discipline and 5 - 7 years of experience, and Certified Safety Professional (CSP) credential.
