Office Specialist (MCG-Neurology-Movmnt Disorders)
Job Summary
The Office Specialist will be responsible for answering and routing patient phone calls in the Department of Neurology at MCG. Daily activities also include completing administrative tasks and communicating effectively with the faculty members. In addition, this position will assist in providing department faculty with necessary patient information and monitoring their schedules.
Responsibilities
The responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Phone Administration
Answer all incoming phone calls; relay messages to providers; route callers to appropriate areas (patient service center, radiology, etc.).
Patient Care
Coordinate patient appointment times with scheduling; contact patients and referring physician offices with test results, visit notes; assist with patient paperwork for FMLA, return to work, disability, etc.; call all patients before clinic visits to confirm appointments and remind them of needed paperwork or pre-visit testing; close all loops in the patient scheduling process; Assist with preparation of patient letters if requested; assist with managing schedules for clinic; Work with clinic nurses/staff to ensure all patient paperwork is returned and clinic schedule is correct.
Coverage
Provide backup administrative support for all department sections as requested.
Other
Unique responsibilities dependent upon specific position: Patient scheduling in Epic; coordination of fellowship program(s); assisting with grant funder or research oversight visits; grand rounds coordinator; Clerkship coverage; building liaison (facilities, security, etc.); coordinating special programs (i.e. Reach); coordinate/assist with special event planning/execution (i.e. Epilepsy Walk).
Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field.
OR
High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent from a recognized State or Federal accrediting organization with a minimum of three years of progressively responsible office support experience.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Proficient with Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills, prioritization, and customer service skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines despite interruptions, maintain confidentiality, keep accurate records, and make independent decisions.
Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days/M-F
Pay Band: B3
Salary Range: $16.54/hr - $19.86/hr
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position.
Recruitment Period: 9/17/25 - Until Filled
