Position Highlights

The OLLI Program Director provides coordination and implements strategies and operational oversight for ensuring effective administration to support the non-credit programs for Osher Life Long Learning institute. This position is responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating non-credit educational programming tailored to older adult learners and collaborate with internal departments, external partners, and volunteer leadership to grow the program, enhance service delivery, and ensure long-term sustainability. Responsibilities include improving administrative processes, optimizing technology platforms, supporting governance structures, and aligning the Institute's work with the university's outreach mission.

This position will allow for flexible/hybrid work arrangements. Some duties can be performed remotely, but others will require an in-person presence on the Tucson, Arizona campus.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Coordinate, lead and implement academic strategies and operational data oversight for ensuring effective administration to support the non-credit programs for OLLI.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities; recommend and help implement solutions to streamline academic workflows and improve service levels and lead operational planning and process optimization for OLLI.
  • Analyze, plan, implement and evaluate non-credit educational programming including adhering to university, state, federal policies and regulations and advise faculty, staff, and leadership on the interpretation and application of academic policy and procedural compliance requirements.
  • Identify opportunities for innovation and improvement in academic programs and services.
  • Use lifelong learning and university- level non-credit programming experience and extensive knowledge to grow academic program for OLLI to enhance service delivery, ensure long term sustainability and increase adult learning enrollment.
    Support institutional alignment and agreement development.
  • Contribute to the review and revision of OLLI's Affinity Agreement to ensure alignment with university policies, strategic goals, and evolving program needs.
  • Coordinate with university leadership to maintain compliance and clarity in external partnerships.
  • Review and analyze data reports and share with OLLI Board and AZ Online leadership.
  • Advise faculty, staff, and leadership on the interpretation and application of academic policy and procedural compliance requirements.
  • Develop and oversee the implementation of technical systems.
  • Identify functional and user-facing technology needs related to registration, member services, reporting, and e-commerce.
  • Partner with UITS and external providers to implement systems that improve efficiency and enable data-informed decision-making.
  • Assess staffing needs and guide organizational planning.
  • Evaluate current and projected staffing requirements in relation to operational needs and system upgrades.
  • Establish clearly defined roles and responsibilities for staff, eliminate workflow redundancies, and enhance service delivery timelines and consistency.
  • Lead efforts to design and implement staffing models that support short-term functionality and long-term sustainability opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the OLLI Board and volunteer leadership.
  • Serve as the primary liaison to the OLLI Board and committees.
  • Facilitate collaborative governance practices, provide strategic input, and support planning and implementation of initiatives that advance OLLI's mission and growth.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of organizational design and cross-functional team leadership.
  • Strong understanding of technology systems for program operations (CRM, e-commerce, learning management, or similar).
  • Proven ability to build collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Advanced interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong commitment to customer centered service delivery.
  • Diplomacy, flexibility, and comfort working with shared governance.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
