Tired of the Workday Portal Black Hole? Welcome to Teaching on Your Terms.
Every semester, hundreds of universities face sudden faculty gaps due to emergency leaves, late resignations, or unexpected enrollment spikes. Instead of letting classes get cancelled, they come to us to find qualified academics instantly.
AcademicJobs.com is launching Adjunct On-Demand—an AI-driven talent network that bypasses the traditional, months-long university hiring process.
Apply once, get vetted once, and open the door to immediate teaching opportunities at hundreds of top institutions. When a department needs your exact expertise, our platform matches you instantly. You accept the gig via a text or app notification, step in, and teach.
Why Join the On-Demand Roster?
- One Application, Infinite Opportunities: Stop filling out the same Taleo or Workday application fifty times for fifty different schools. Create your profile once, verify your credentials, and let the jobs come to you.
- Frictionless Payroll: No waiting months for a university HR department to onboard you as a vendor. AcademicJobs acts as your Employer of Record. We handle your contracts, compliance, and direct deposit—meaning you get paid weekly and on time.
- Total Flexibility: Build your own schedule. Accept full 10-week courses, intensive 4-week modules, or even single guest-lecturing gigs based entirely on your current capacity.
- Keep Your Passive Search Alive: Perfect for postdocs, Ph.D. candidates finishing dissertations, or industry professionals looking to give back without committing to a permanent tenure-track application cycle.
What You’ll Do
Depending on your availability and the university’s needs, roles typically include:
- Stepping in as the primary instructor for online, hybrid, or on-campus undergraduate or graduate courses.
- Delivering specialized, pre-prepared syllabus material or rapidly deploying your own curriculum.
- Managing course grading, holding virtual office hours, and engaging students via LMS platforms (Canvas, Blackboard, etc.).
- Providing short-term research assistance, grant-writing support, or expert peer reviews.
Who We Are Looking For
We are building a robust, multi-disciplinary network. We welcome applicants across STEM, Humanities, Business, Health Sciences, and the Arts who meet the following criteria:
- Minimum Credentials: A Master’s degree in your field is required for undergraduate teaching; a Ph.D. or terminal degree is highly preferred (and required for graduate-level courses).
- Teaching Experience: At least 1–2 years of experience as a Teaching Assistant (TA), Adjunct, or Lead Instructor at the collegiate level.
- Tech Savvy: Comfortable jumping directly into standard Learning Management Systems (LMS) with minimal training.
- Responsiveness: Because these are on-demand roles, candidates who respond quickly to match notifications are prioritized by our algorithm.
