One Research Fellowship (BI) is open at Universidade Fernando Pessoa for the Project EMBRACE - "Da Vulnerabilidade à Capacitação: implementação e avaliação de um programa multicomponente para prevenir e compensar o declínio relacionado com o envelhecimento” COMPETE2030-FEDER-00892100 funded by European Regional Development Fund (FEDER) through the Programa Operacional Competitividade e Internacionalização – COMPETE 2030, and by the Fernando Pessoa Foundation, regarding project no. 15254 under Call MPr-2023-12, under the following conditions:

Workplan and objectives:

• Systematic literature review on Mediterranean diet-based dietary interventions in older populations;
• Collaboration in the development of the intervention protocol;
• Implementation of the intervention protocol (individual and group sessions) and assessment tools;
• Assessment of nutritional status;
• Support in the project's logistical organization, communication between the team and participants, and preliminary data analysis.

Duration of the fellowship contract: The non-renewable scholarship will have a maximum duration of 12 months, with the contract expected to start on November 2, 2026.

Documentation to be provided at the time of contracting: In addition to those mentioned in the previous point, it is necessary to present proof of enrollment in a master's degree or in non-degree courses.

Applicable Legislation: Law 40/2004, of 18th August, in the current wording (Statute of the Scientific Research Scholarship, and Regulation of Research Grants of the Foundation for Science and Technology, regulation 950/2019. Subsidiarily and in everything that is not in opposition to the legislation mentioned above, the Code of Administrative Procedure (CPA), approved by Decree-Law No. 4/2015, of 7 January, also applies.

Workplace: The work will be developed at Universidade Fernando Pessoa, Porto and/or the project's partner institutions, under the scientific supervision of Cláudia Silva and Rita Guerra.

General Requirements

1. Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Nutritional Sciences or Nutrition and Dietetics, with a final grade of 12 out of 20 or higher;
2. Be registered with the Portuguese Order of Nutritionists;
3. Proficiency in the Portuguese;
4. Immediate availability to take up the position

Specific Requirements

1. Experience in clinical nutrition and nutrition education;
2. Research experience with older populations;
3. Knowledge of data analysis (SPSS);
4. Written and spoken fluency in English;
5. Digital communication skills;
6. Organizational, communication, and multidisciplinary teamwork skills.

Benefits

Amount of monthly maintenance allowance: The amount of the grant corresponds to €1.090,98 according to the table of grant values within the scope of a R & D project by FCT, I.P. in the country (https://www.fct.pt/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Tabela-de-Valores-SMM-2026.pdf). It may include the amount corresponding to the Voluntary Social Security in accordance with article 10 of the Fellowship Holder Statute. Payment of the fellowship is monthly and via bank transfer or equivalent method.

Eligibility criteria

Candidates who comply with the provisions of paragraph 1 of article 9 of the Regulation for Research Grants of the Foundation for Science and Technology, regulation 950/2019.

Selection process

• A- Evaluation Criteria (70%)
• B- Interview (30%)

Each criterion will be awarded a maximum score of five (5) points.

Only candidates who achieve a score higher than or equal to 4 (inclusive) in Criterion A will be invited for an interview.

Candidates will be ranked according to the following formula: Final Score = 0.70 × A + 0.30 × B, where A is the score obtained in the Evaluation Criteria (0 to 5) and B is the score obtained in the Interview (0 to 5).

In the event of a tie among candidates interviewed, the Interview score (B) will prevail.

If none of the candidates possess the suitable profile required for the nature of the tasks and their satisfactory execution, the Selection Jury reserves the right not to award the grant to any of the applicants.

Communication of results: Candidates will be notified in writing, via email, of the acceptance of the application as well as, subsequently, of the decision of the Selection Jury. Candidates selected for interview will be notified in writing via email. During the call period, candidates should check the email they indicate in their application daily to stay informed about the selection process. If the result is unfavorable, candidates have a period of 10 working days, after the results are published, to comment, if they wish, in a prior hearing of interested parties, under the terms provided for in the Code of Administrative Procedure, by e-mail to projetoembrace@ufp.edu.pt. The assessment results will be published as a ranked list based on the final score obtained and made available through the institutional digital channels of Universidade Fernando Pessoa. Complaint and appeal on the final decision can be made following paragraph 6 of article 12 of the Regulation for Research Grants of the Foundation for Science and Technology, regulation 950/2019.

Once the selection process is concluded, the fellowship contract will be written in accordance with the contract draft provided by FCT.
