One-year Postdoc Position in Electronics
One-year Postdoc Position in Electronics
2025-08-31 (Europe/Paris)
RESEARCHER PROFILE: Postdoc / R2: PhD holders
RESEARCH FIELD(S)1: Electronics
JOB /OFFER DESCRIPTION:
As part of our ongoing research activities in the national research plan FerroFutures, our goal is to develop and demonstrate a hardware platform based on low-cost technologies for energy-efficient computing tailored to the specific needs of Artificial Intelligence.
The Internet of Things (IoT), a powerful driver toward a society increasingly reliant on information exchange, demands the deployment of edge Artificial Intelligence (Edge AI). Indeed, the energy consumption of conventional AI approaches is incompatible with the constraints of embedded applications.
Edge AI must meet stringent requirements in terms of energy consumption, latency, real-time processing, exponentially growing data volumes, and privacy. To meet these demands, new architectures capable of storing and processing data locally must be explored, particularly in light of emerging technologies.
Among these, ferroelectric technology stands out for its excellent energy efficiency and low-cost access to non-volatile functionality, making it highly competitive among emerging memory technologies.
In this scope, we are seeking a motivated postdoctoral researcher to work on the characterization and modelling of devices such as ferroelectric capacitors (FeCAPs) and ferroelectric memory transistors (FeMFETs), along with other promising memory technologies.
The postdoctoral researcher will be based at the IM2NP laboratory (Aix-Marseille University), and, as part of the collaboration with the IMS laboratory (University of Bordeaux), will occasionally carry out research missions with our partner team.
During this position, the main tasks will be:
- Conduct advanced on-wafer electrical characterization of emerging memory technologies such as FeCAPs and FeMFET (including DC, C-V, P-V, temperature-dependent measurements, as well as characterization of leakage, read-awake behavior, fatigue, endurance and footprint) for parameter extraction.
- Develop scalable compact models suitable for integration into Process Design Kits (PDKs).
