Who You Are
You are an experienced faculty member with excellent technology skills. You may have experience teaching in an online asynchronous classroom, a synchronous virtual classroom with live lecture, or a physical classroom.
You are motivated by learning how to use new tools to improve the classroom experience and are frequently striving for personal or professional growth through trainings, certifications, and other accessible learning opportunities.
Equipped with your own computer and the ability to follow instructions and complete tasks independently, you are comfortable teaching in a virtual classroom environment. Finding new ways to challenge and engage your students is exciting to you.
The Role
Our Online Adjunct Faculty teaches courses related to our Mortuary Science program, with a particular focus on the science and funeral service-related components of the curriculum, such as marketing, social sciences, communication, and more. Faculty members play an essential role in preparing future funeral service professionals through engaging, student-centered instruction in an online learning environment.
Courses meet once weekly for approximately 4 hours and 10 minutes during each 10-week academic term.
Here is What You Will Do
- Teach assigned courses in areas such as anatomy, pathology, embalming, restorative art, and funeral service management.
- Provide engaging, interactive online instruction aligned with course learning outcomes.
- Facilitate one weekly live virtual classroom session via Zoom and maintain consistent communication with students.
- Submit attendance records and classroom feedback reports.
- Review and grade assignments in a timely manner through use of the LMS.
- Create, post, and monitor weekly assessments in the LMS.
- Evaluate student performance and provide timely, constructive feedback.
- Contribute to program assessment, curriculum updates, and continuous improvement efforts.
- Uphold the mission, vision, and values of FINE Mortuary College and the American Board of Funeral Service Education standards.
Here is What You Will Need
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
- At least three years of professional teaching experience.
- Demonstrated ability to teach effectively in an online environment.
- Located in, or able to consistently teach during, Mountain or Pacific Time Zone hours.
- Exemplary technology skills, including Zoom, Outlook 365, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
- Knowledge of FERPA, Title IX, and other student-related regulations.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to complete criminal and educational background checks.
- Ability to adhere to deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a related discipline, such as biology, health sciences, or education.
- Prior college-level teaching experience.
- Proficiency with online learning management systems such as Canvas or Blackboard.
Additional Required Skills
- Willingness to participate in institutional training and faculty meetings.
- Willingness and ability to learn to use new dynamic software.
