Job Summary

The Online Student Success Coach is an integral part of Augusta University Online with the primary goal of enhancing student retention and success rates. This role combines hands-on student engagement with data-driven initiatives, ensuring students receive personalized and proactive care. The role will serve as a member of the Online Student Success team and the Online Student Success Coach will help support student academic success, persistence, and retention, from matriculation to degree completion. The primary aim of a student success coach is to help students build connections to the university community and critical departments. They will maintain academic records and degree progression for an assigned caseload of students for whom they will develop short and long terms goals.

Responsibilities

The duties include, but are not limited to:

ADVISING, STUDENT SUPPORT, AND ENGAGEMENT: Provide personalized, ongoing coaching and support to online students to enhance their academic performance, engagement, and overall student experience. Develop and implement success strategies for individual students, addressing challenges such as time management, study skills, and academic progress. Including providing early interventions and case management for at-risk students identified. Refer students to appropriate resources as needed. Liaise with staff, counseling services, and other departments as needed to facilitate comprehensive student support. Advocate for student needs and work collaboratively with faculty and staff to address barriers to student success. Collaborate with the admissions team to facilitate an effective bridge in onboarding new students, easing their transition to online learning and setting them up for success. Advise students on Augusta University policies, handbooks, procedures, program requirements, practicum/internship requirements, and all other academic matters. Coach students through the petition and appeals process and registration, course selection, programs, and academic opportunities. Conduct exit interviews, capturing lessons learned.

RECORD MANAGEMENT: Maintain up-to-date notes and record keeping of each student meeting, email, and phone conversation as pertaining to academic progress through the student information system (SIS), customer relations management (CRM) system, and learning management system (LMS). Assist the Director in monitoring, tracking, and evaluating the effectiveness of retention activities and intervening proactively when signs of academic distress or disengagement are detected. Document and disseminate curriculum exceptions. Manage graduation progression for students. Create and update advising processes and policies. Collaborate in the development of assessment plans and tools related to retention efforts. Conduct regular assessments on student engagement, satisfaction, and success measures.

RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT AND COLLABORATION: Support the delivery of online resources, including tutoring, academic advising, and mental health resources. Work closely with the IT department to facilitate the effective use of digital tools and platforms that enhance online student engagement and success. Collaborate with faculty and staff across different departments to ensure alignment between student support services and the institution's overall goals. Serve on various committees, as requested.

OTHER DUTIES: Performs all other job-related duties as assigned or required to meet Department, Executive Area/Division, and University goals and objectives. Understands responsibilities with respect to Title IX, FERPA, and other compliance requirements. Participate in ongoing professional development activities curated by the Director.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Education, Counseling, Psychology, and one year of experience in Education, Counseling, Psychology or professional corporate setting.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience with online students Master's degree from an accredited college or university.

Student Development Theories: Familiarity with student development theories to facilitate the holistic growth of students.
Technological Proficiency: Proficient in the use of digital technology, including learning management systems (LMS), student information systems (SIS), and other digital tools relevant to the educational setting.

Adaptability: Ability to adjust to changes in schedules, student needs, institutional priorities, etc.
Proactive Approach: Ability to anticipate student issues before they escalate and take necessary preventive action.
Motivational Abilities: Ability to inspire and motivate students to achieve their academic goals and stay committed to their programs of study.

Shift/Salary/Benefits

Shift: Days/M-F (Work outside of normal business hours may be required)

Pay Band: B8

Salary: Minimum $45,400/annual Midpoint: $47,551.69/annual

Salary to be commensurate with the qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum midpoint) of the position.
