Position Description
The Department of Radiology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is seeking a full time, fellowship trained Interventional Radiologist to join the Interventional Radiology Division. This position supports the department’s clinical, educational, and academic missions within a high volume, tertiary care academic medical center.
The Interventional Radiology Division performs a broad range of vascular and non-vascular procedures and provides CTA and MRA interpretation. Divisional clinical strengths include interventional oncology, treatment of vascular malformations, portal hypertension, venous disease interventions, women’s health, and solid organ transplant-related interventions. The division maintains an independent outpatient clinic, an inpatient admitting service, and provides procedural services for a local outpatient dialysis access center.
Clinical care is delivered across multiple state of the art locations, including nine interventional procedure suites with a 16 bed pre and post procedure holding area at UNC Memorial Hospital in Chapel Hill, two interventional procedure suites with a nine bed holding area at Hillsborough Hospital, onsite Interventional Radiology services at UNC Health Johnston locations in Smithfield and Clayton supporting both inpatient and outpatient populations, and an office based laboratory in Chapel Hill. The division supports comprehensive training for Integrated Interventional Radiology, Independent Interventional Radiology, and Diagnostic Radiology residents through a high procedural case volume.
Position Responsibilities
- Perform image guided vascular and non vascular interventional radiology procedures using ultrasound, fluoroscopy, and CT guidance
- Provide clinical care across inpatient, outpatient clinic, admitting service, dialysis access, and office based laboratory settings
- Interpret CTA and MRA studies as part of the clinical service
- Perform a wide range of interventional procedures, which may include image guided biopsies; venous access procedures; thermal tumor ablation (microwave and cryoablation); chemoembolization and radioembolization; vertebroplasty and kyphoplasty; uterine artery embolization; prostatic artery embolization; and endovenous ablation procedures
- Participate in the education and supervision of Integrated IR, Independent IR, and Diagnostic Radiology residents
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary clinical teams across medical and surgical specialties
- Participate in quality improvement, scholarly, or research activities consistent with departmental needs
