Open Rank Clinical Faculty- Craniofacial Plastic Surgeon
Job Summary
The Medical College of Georgia Department of Surgery at Augusta University (AU) is seeking a full-time faculty member in the Division of Plastic Surgery at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor with specialization in Pediatric Plastic Surgery. Qualified candidates should be board-certified or board-eligible in plastic surgery with a minimum of 3 years of experience and have completed a pediatric/craniofacial fellowship. AU seeks a dynamic surgeon and educator, with fellowship training willing to develop and grow the referral and practice depth in pediatric surgery. This qualified candidate can work with other services in our Health System such as Head and Neck Surgery, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Speech Pathology and Dental Surgery. This position does not meet the requirements to be considered on tenure track.
Responsibilities
- Develop clinical practice in Pediatric Plastic Surgery.
- Enhance the Plastic Surgery Program, increase clinic visits and increase surgical volumes related to Pediatric Plastic Surgery.
- Work with colleagues in Otolaryngology and Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery.
- Participate in the call schedule with the Divisions of Plastic Surgery.
- Teach and educate general surgery residents about plastic surgery.
Required Qualifications
MD/DO degree; Qualified candidates should be board-certified in plastic surgery with a minimum of 3 years of experience and demonstrated success in leadership and programmatic development.
Assistant Professor- Early level career as a faculty member with appropriate post graduate training.
Associate Professor- Mid level career faculty member with at least five years at rank of Assistant Professor or comparable training, background, and experience.
Professor- Senior level career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Associate Professor or comparable training, background, and experience.
Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be:
- Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation;
- Evidence of ability as a teacher;
- Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned;
- Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and,
- Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.
Shift/Salary/Benefits
This position is fiscal year based and works year-round. The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0 and considered full-time. Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds. Rank and salary are determined at the time of hire and are based on a variety of factors including but not limited to experience, education, credentials, specialty, training, etc. while also considering internal equity and market data. Advancement through the faculty ranks at Augusta University is only through the annual Promotion and Tenure process in which faculty may apply if eligible (typically five-year increments).
