Job Summary
Job ID 290269 Position # 20005679 The Dental College of Georgia at Augusta University is seeking a faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor. The faculty member will be teaching in the Department of Pediatric Dentistry primarily in pediatric dentistry but may also include any other departmental teaching areas. This will include lectures, seminars, laboratories, clinical supervision, and related activities at the predoctoral and postdoctoral level. The faculty member will participate in the Dental College of Georgia's committee activities and assume responsibilities as appropriate. Measures of success would include acceptable peer and student reviews. The faculty member will also perform patient care, engage in research and scholarly activities, and in professional or service activities.
Responsibilities
- Participate in teaching efforts in pediatric dentistry.
- Perform patient care through the DCG Dental Practice Group in order to maintain practice skills and provide treatment for patients. Goal is to attain a level of productivity as described in the Compensation and Benefits section.
- Engage in research and scholarly activities at a level to provide adequate development in academic achievement. Goal is to meet research and scholarly benchmarks for promotion to the next academic rank as defined in the Dental College of Georgia P&T policy.
- Engage in university or external professional or service activities as appropriate. Goal is to make contribution in these areas of activity.
Required Qualifications
DDS or DMD degree (or equivalent) Valid license to practice dentistry in one of the states or eligibility in the state of Georgia, and be board eligible or certified in Pediatric Dentistry. Applicants must be able to obtain hospital privileges and a Georgia sedation license. Assistant Professor - Early level career as a faculty member with background, education, and training consistent with the following position requirements. Associate Professor - Mid level career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Assistant Professor with background, education, and training consistent with the following position requirements. Professor - Senior level career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Associate Professor with background, education, and training consistent with the following position requirements. Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be: Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation; Evidence of ability as a teacher; Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned; Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and, Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.
Preferred Qualifications
An MS, MPH, or PhD degree and/or demonstrated potential for scholarly activities are highly desirable. 2 years of academic experience and Board Certified
Shift/Salary/Benefits
This position is fiscal year based and works year-round. The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0 and considered full-time. Assistant Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
