Job Summary

Job ID 289326 Position # 20008440 The Dental College of Georgia at Augusta University seeks a full-time faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor for predoctoral didactic, preclinical, and clinical learning in restorative dentistry, Prosthodontics, and associated areas. Support of advanced training programs (Prosthodontics, GPR) may be expected consistent with candidate experience and department mission. Scholarship, Service, and Faculty Practice available. This position does not meet the requirements to be on a tenure track.

Knowledge: All aspects of clinical dentistry related to Restorative Sciences in support learning, scholarship, patient care, and service.

Skills: All aspects of clinical dentistry. All relevant org., communication as an oral health care clinician, educator, and scholar in support of RS and related areas.

Abilities: Patient care; inter-professional collaboration; curriculum organization; implementation and assessment; student mentoring and assessment; interest and participation in scholarly activity; service based on interests and experience.

Responsibilities

Contribute to curriculum maintenance and innovation. Support didactic and clinical learning for students, faculty, and peers in didactic, laboratory, and/or clinical settings using best evidence. Supervise and mentor students/residents with oral health care in DMD, Dental Hygiene, and/or Advanced Education Programs (GPR, PROS based on credentials). Develop, administer, and provide informal/formal student performance assessment. All teaching and department support tasks to be performed successfully.

Required Qualifications

US DDS or DMD degree (or foreign equivalent) State of Georgia Dental License or State of Georgia Faculty Dental License. Assistant Professor - Early level career as a faculty member with background, education, and training consistent with the following position requirements. Associate Professor - Mid level career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Assistant Professor with background, education, and training consistent with the following position requirements. Professor - Senior level career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Associate Professor with background, education, and training consistent with the following position requirements. Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be: Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation; Evidence of ability as a teacher; Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned; Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and, Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.

Preferred Qualifications

Advanced Operative, Advanced Restorative, or CODA Advanced Prosthodontics training. Prior experience in dental education with demonstrated ability to work productively in didactic and clinical educational environments. History of publications. Clinical experience. Expertise in advanced technologies, digital workflow, including dental implants; ABP certification or progress toward certification as qualified.

Shift/Salary/Benefits

This position is fiscal year based and works year-round. The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0 and considered full-time. Assistant Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds. Associate Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
