The Department of Restorative Sciences in the Dental College of Georgia at Augusta University is seeking a full-time faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor that will support the predoctoral program in preclinical (Simlab) and didactic courses. Responsibilities include teaching and supporting other faculty in the department at the predoctoral level. Other duties include supporting faculty in didactic and pre-clinical courses. The faculty member would report to the chair of the Department of Restorative Sciences. This position does not meet the requirements to be on a tenure track.

Comprehensive care dentistry related to the predoctoral in didactic and preclinical (Simlab) courses and the Department of Restorative Sciences requirements in support of learning and scholarship.

All relevant organization, communication as an oral health educator, and scholar in support of the Department of Restorative Sciences and adjunctive areas.
Responsibilities
Teaching - 65%
Contribute to and support learning in didactic, pre-doctoral lab courses, and/or pre-post-doctoral clinics and/or classroom instruction. Facilitate learning, support concepts and procedures, and demonstrate skills for preclinical courses. Contribute as assigned to the predoctoral dental program, inclusive of its curriculum, competencies and the preparation of students for the licensing board exam. Support didactic and clinical learning using best evidence.
Research/Scholarship - 5%
Collaborate with faculty and serve as mentor for student/residents regarding research and scholarly activities leading to grants, presentations and publications. Participate in department research/scholarly activity initiatives and preparation of manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals.
Clinical/Patient Care - 20%
Establish a quality patient care practice producing previously negotiated charges goal. Provide accurate and timely management of electronic health record (EHR) activities; demonstrate accurate and timely management of EHR activities at 95% level or greater.
Service - 10%
Lead or serve on department, DCG, and AU level committees and support other professional service activities that are appropriate. Lead or serve on national/professional organization committees. Obtain CE credits necessary for maintenance of professional licensure, complete mandatory annual/bi-annual training (e.g., HIPAA, BLS) required for duties in the department, the DCG, AU, and support and comply with college or university policies and practices.
Required Qualifications
DDS, DMD or foreign equivalent
State of Georgia Dental License or State of Georgia Faculty Dental License.
Assistant Professor - Early level career as a faculty member with background, education, and training consistent with the following position requirements.
Associate Professor - Mid level career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Assistant Professor with background, education, and training consistent with the following position requirements.
Professor - Senior level career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Associate Professor with background, education, and training consistent with the following position requirements.
Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be:
- Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation;
- Evidence of ability as a teacher;
- Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned;
- Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and,
- Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.
Preferred Qualifications
Exposure to advanced technologies and digital workflow.
Training with technology used in digital dentistry.
Experience with technology used in dentistry.
Shift/Salary/Benefits
This position is fiscal year based and works year-round.
The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0 and considered full-time.
Assistant Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
Associate Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
