Job Summary

Job ID 290271 Position # 2009995 The Department of Pediatric Dentistry in the Dental College of Georgia at Augusta University is seeking a faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor. The faculty member will also perform patient care through the DCG Dental Faculty Practice Group in order to maintain practice skills and provide treatment for patients. The faculty member will be responsible for education and research activities of the AU DCG Pediatric Dentistry training program as Program Director and provide administrative assistance, teaching and mentorship to residents, faculty, and staff who participate in the program. Engagement in research and scholarly activities and in university or external professional or service activities is also expected.

Responsibilities

Perform patient care through the DCG Dental Faculty Practice Group in order to maintain practice skills and provide treatment for patients. The Program Director is responsible for the education and research activities of the AU DCG Pediatric Dentistry training program and shall provide administrative assistance teaching and mentorship to residents, faculty, and staff who participate in the program. Responsibilities also include direct patient care and clinical supervision. Departmental teaching responsibilities will be primarily in the area of pediatric dentistry but may also include other departments. This will include lectures, seminars and others as designated by the Department Chair. Engage in research and scholarly activities at a level to provide adequate scholarly benchmarks for promotion to the next academic rank as defined in the Dental College of Georgia P&T policy. Engage in university or external professional or service activities as appropriate. Goal is to make contributions in the areas of activity.

Required Qualifications

The requirements for this position include a DDS/DMD degree from an ADA accredited dental school, a valid license to practice dentistry in one of the states or eligibility in the state of Georgia. and be board certified in Pediatric Dentistry. Applicants must be able to obtain hospital privileges and a Georgia sedation license. Minimum 5 years of academic experience. Assistant Professor - Early level career as a faculty member with background, education, and training consistent with the following position requirements. Associate Professor - Mid level career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Assistant Professor with background, education, and training consistent with the following position requirements. Professor - Senior level career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Associate Professor with background, education, and training consistent with the following position requirements. Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be: Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation; Evidence of ability as a teacher; Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned; Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and, Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.

Preferred Qualifications

An MS, MPH, or PhD degree and/or demonstrated potential for scholarly activities are highly desirable.

Shift/Salary/Benefits

This position is fiscal year based and works year-round. The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0 and considered full-time. Assistant Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds. Associate Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
