"Open Rank Faculty – Assistant, Associate, Senior Associate, or Full Professor – Artificial Intelligence"

JOB DESCRIPTION

CIE and HeXie Academy invite applications for open-rank faculty positions (Assistant Professor / Associate Professor / Senior Associate Professor / Full Professor) in Artificial Intelligence. We seek candidates whose research and teaching expertise aligns with one or more of the following priority areas:

• Foundation Models and Large Language Models (LLMs)
• Machine Learning Theory and Algorithms, including Applications in Science and Industry
• Generative AI and Creative Applications
• Responsible, Explainable, and Trustworthy AI (Ethics & Governance)
• AI Systems, High-Performance Computing, and Intelligent Manufacturing
• Natural Language Processing and Multimodal Intelligence
• Robotics, Human-AI Interaction, and Embodied Intelligence
• Experience or interest in applying AI to interdisciplinary domains, particularly in Ageing, Biopharmaceuticals, HR, Semiconductors, or Advanced Materials, is highly valued.

The successful candidate will be expected to:

• Conduct cutting-edge, interdisciplinary research that bridges AI technology with industrial ecosystem management and innovation strategy.
• Publish high-impact research in leading academic journals and secure competitive external research funding.
• Develop, lead, and deliver AI training camps, technical executive development programme, and industry-collaborative projects.
• Supervise master's and doctoral students, including guiding dissertations and research practicums, and actively involve students in research activities.
• Engage in the "Syntegrative Education" model by fostering deep collaboration with industry partners within Suzhou Industrial Park, Taicang, and beyond.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

• A PhD in Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Data Science, or a closely related field.
• A demonstrable record of academic research and publication in reputable, peer-reviewed journals/conferences. Early-career applicants should show evidence of a strong and promising research pipeline.
• Proven experience in teaching at the higher education level.
• A strong alignment between research expertise and the strategic focus areas of CIE and HeXie Academy.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to teach in an English-medium, intercultural environment.

Additional Essential Requirements for Senior Associate Professor / Full Professor applicants:

• An outstanding record of excellence in teaching and curriculum development.
• A substantial and sustained record of high-quality academic publications.
• Proven success in securing and managing significantexternal research grants.
• A successful track record of supervising PhD students to completion.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience in interdisciplinary curriculum design and new programme development, particularly at the postgraduate level.
• A demonstrated interest or experience in applying AI to industrial contexts (e.g., biopharma, semiconductors, advanced materials) or ecosystem management.
• Active engagement with the professional and industrial community.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively in a collegial, interdisciplinary academic environment.
• Familiarity with the higher education landscape in China and/or a keen interest in contributing to XJTLU's "3.0" educational mission.
