Job Summary
Job ID: 251821. Position: 20000331. The Dental College of Georgia at Augusta University is seeking applications for a full-time, tenure/non-tenure track faculty position in the Department of Oral Biology and Diagnostic Sciences. Didactic teaching responsibilities include pre-doctoral (dental) and graduate courses, primarily in the areas of physiology, pharmacology or microbiology, and mentorship of graduate and postdoctoral trainees. Contributions in scholarly activity and service are also expected in areas that complement ongoing research within the department and college/university. The candidate must be able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Significant postdoctoral experience, a strong record of research accomplishment, and the ability to develop a vigorous, extramurally-funded, independent research program, are expected.
Responsibilities
The duties include, but are not limited to: Teaching dental students, dental residents and graduate students. This will include physiology, pharmacology or microbiology. Should be able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Conduct independent research as well as research in collaboration with other faculty within the Dental College of Georgia and external to the College, as appropriate. Develop extramurally-funded research program. Engage in service activities as are needed by the department, college, institution and scientific community.
Required Qualifications
Ph.D. from an accredited college or university in physiology, pharmacology or microbiology, or a medical or dental qualification (MD, DDS, or similar). Record of didactic instruction. Candidates will demonstrate a record of: 1) teaching in physiology, pharmacology or microbiology; 2) obtaining extramural funding; 3) high-impact publications.
Preferred Qualifications
PhD degree in oral biology, physiology, pharmacology, microbiology, or a related basic medical science field. A dental or medical qualification is highly desirable, with preference given to dual-qualified applicants. Experience in grantsmanship and having secured extramural research funding is highly desirable, and expected for appointment at higher rank.
Shift/Salary/Benefits
This position is fiscal year based and works year-round. The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0 and considered full-time. Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
