The Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University seeks a full-time, ranked faculty member in Music for New Media (MFN) effective July 1, 2027. The new faculty member will teach and recruit students for the BM in Music for New Media and MM in Film and Game Scoring degree programs, which prepare students for careers at the intersection of music, technology, and visual storytelling across film, television, and games. Candidates should demonstrate an active professional record in media composition, strong compositional praxis, fluency with modern scoring technologies and virtual orchestration. Experience with interactive scoring, game engines, and audio middleware is highly desirable, but not required.

The new faculty member will teach MFN courses, conduct applied composition lessons, and advise advanced students on capstone projects. MFN faculty share oversight of the studios and contribute to departmental operations, including program administration and managing hardware and software tools. Peabody faculty contribute to curriculum, program development, and institutional improvement through committee work. Faculty are also expected to maintain an active profile in scholarship, composition, or performance.

The successful candidate should document experience as a professional composer for film, television, and interactive media such as video games. The position requires demonstrated proficiency with software commonly used in professional scoring for picture (linear/narrative and interactive). The candidate should also have post-secondary teaching experience. Faculty must demonstrate training in music composition, music technology, film and media, or a related field. A graduate degree is strongly preferred.
