Open Rank Professor of the Practice in Anatomy and Physiology
The Boston College Biology Department invites applications for the position of assistant or associate Professor of the Practice. This is a full-time, non-tenure-track, renewable position, with promotion potential from assistant to associate to full ranks (without tenure). The position will start in July, 2026, with teaching responsibilities beginning in the Fall 2026 semester. Faculty are supported with full benefits and a competitive salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Teaching responsibilities: The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching and overseeing instruction for the Anatomy and Physiology I and II courses and labs for non-biology major, pre-health students. These courses lay the foundation for understanding human anatomy and physiology, covering the basics of eukaryotic cell function, vertebrate physiology and function of mammalian organ systems. Normal physiological functions are emphasized, and relevant disease etiologies and dysfunctional systems will be emphasized to prepare students for health professions. The faculty member will oversee and supervise concurrent laboratories taught by graduate teaching assistants; these labs will familiarize students with anatomical and physiological principles discussed in lecture through observation, experiments and dissections.
Qualifications: Terminal degree (PhD or equivalent) in an appropriate field of study; instructor experience and dedication to teaching.
