POSITION:
The Department of Biological Sciences in the College of Science and Mathematics at Augusta University invites applications for an open rank faculty position in the general area of biology. We seek a creative, collaborative, and visionary biologist to establish an internationally recognized research program. We are broadly interested in applicants who integrate cutting-edge cellular, molecular, genetic, genomics, proteomics and/or data science. The applicant will have a secondary appointment within a department of the Medical College of Georgia.
This tenure-track, 9-month appointment combines research, undergraduate and graduate teaching, and service/outreach. An emphasis is placed on the department’s growing research programs, and the applicant will be provided with a competitive start-up package with the expectation that they develop a strong extramurally funded and collaborative research laboratory. Academic rank will be commensurate with experience.
FACULTY SUPPORT:
Augusta University provides a highly supportive environment for intensive research with opportunities to collaborate with faculty across campus, including at the neighboring Medical College of Georgia. The applicant will have access to state-of-the-art facilities and expert personnel associated with the College of Science and Mathematics, the Medical College of Georgia, and the larger Augusta University campus. Core facilities include a fully staffed imaging, histology and electron microscopy core, mass spectroscopy facility, and dedicated proteomics and genomics core facilities. The University has a rich graduate student environment with the internationally renowned Biomedical Sciences PhD program and a Biomolecular Science master’s program. The University is actively growing its commitment to both research and education, exemplified by the brand-new College of Science and Mathematics research facility and an annual 11% increase in the student population of the Department of Biological Sciences.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Ph.D. in biology or a related field with postdoctoral experience. Teaching/mentoring experience, evidence of successful grant writing, and engagement in service/outreach activities is preferred.
START DATE:
August 2026.
