Opening of Academic Positions – Tenure-eligible Lecturers and Associate Professors

The Serra Húnter Programme (SHP) is offering 24 positions as tenure-eligible lecturer and 3 positions as associate professor at the public universities of Catalonia (Spain). Positions are available in different fields of study within sciences, life sciences, medical and health sciences, social sciences, engineering and architecture, and arts and humanities. Successful candidates will be hired by the university offering the position and are expected to cooperate with existing groups and/or develop new lines of research, complementary to those already in place. These positions also entail teaching obligations.

Qualifications

Candidates must hold a PhD, provide proof of international experience for 1 year, have teaching experience, and an excellent research record. They are expected to have an excellent record of publications in good venues in their fields, have international exposure, and have participated in competitive research projects. For associate professors, they must also accredit at least 9 months of postdoctoral experience in a different university from the one of the doctoral studies. Benefits

For tenure-eligible lecturers, a fixed-term full-time contract is offered for up to six years. At the end, the university may open a permanent position as associate professor if the candidate passes a positive evaluation. For associate professors, a full-time permanent contract is offered. The annual starting salary is 38,496.02 euros for a tenure-eligible lecturer and 42,478.74 euros for an associate professor, before taxes. Newly hired lecturers receive 5,000 euros funding for research at the start and another 5,000 euros after 3 years. Contracts include health, retirement, and unemployment benefits.

Selection Process

The process has two steps: an international call to express interest and check eligibility, followed by a competition at the university. Further details are available here.
