Operating Room Materials Management Supervisor
Position Summary
The purpose of an Operating Room Materials Management Supervisor is to oversee the planning and coordination of the Stony Brook Medicine Perioperative Services' inventory and purchasing of implants, disposables and equipment materials for surgery. The Operating Room Materials Management Supervisor is tasked with researching best prices, monitoring inventory levels, distributing supplies, and consulting administration with contracts.
Perioperative Services is searching for a qualified Operating Room Materials Management Supervisor who is an experienced and competent individual with in-depth knowledge of inventory management systems and procedures, with duties to include maintaining budgets, analyzing materials, and researching vendors. The position requires excellent communication skills, with strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills. To excel in this role, Operating Room Materials Management Supervisor needs in-depth knowledge of Lawson supply chain and budgeting processes. The Operating Room Materials Management Supervisor is tasked with ensuring our departments have adequate access to the materials they need.
Duties of an Operating Room Materials Management Supervisor may include the following but are not limited to:
- Research potential vendors and obtain prices.
- Work with management to identify supply needs.
- Recommend solutions to existing processes to reduce waste and increase quantity.
- Record and assess all materials quality, movement, and expenditure.
- Manage the distribution of supplies in the organization.
- Monitor inventory levels and access to the material.
- Responsible for daily staff schedules, timekeeping, and planning scheduled time off.
- Oversee and support subordinates and new employees.
- Prepare and file detailed records on procurement activity, quantity, and vendors.
- Prepare and manage supply costs for POS departmental budget. Assist in departmental capital planning.
- Assist in planning POS division budgeting & planning spanning all aspects of the POS.
- Prepare and manage all consignment contracts.
- Prepare purchase requisitions for the POS.
- Other administrative duties as applies.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and at least 2 years of materials management experience or, in lieu of a Bachelor's degree, an Associate's degree and at least 4 years of materials management experience. Related healthcare experience. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. Excellent organizational, communication and analytical skills.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience in managing surgical material. Working knowledge of handling and ordering surgical implants. Experience working in conjunction with accounts payable, accounts receivable under NYS procurement law. Experience ordering with vendor agreements, service contracts and blanket PO's and resolving issue. Experience resolving backorder issues. Working Knowledge of surgical analytical programs such as Lawson, EDI/GHX, and Crystal reports. 1 or more year's of experience in the handling of sensitive material such as sterile implants, human tissue including allogenic and autologous and sub-zero sterile goods including tissue. Personnel management experience.

Anticipated Pay Range:
The salary range (or hiring range) for this position is $61,550 - $71,101 / year.
