Mō Tēnei Tūranga Mahi – About the Role
We currently have an opportunity for an experienced administrator to join our team, working closely with learners and staff to provide day-to-day administrative support. While portfolio areas may change over time to meet operational needs, this role will initially be based primarily within the Faculty of Health, Science and Sustainability.
In this role you will:
- Contribute to a range of general administrative tasks to support the smooth running of the faculty
- Provide excellent customer service to learners and staff, including responding to frontline enquiries
- Support administrative activities such as preparing documentation, scheduling appointments, supporting meetings, and managing communications
- Be willing to support operational needs across campuses, with flexibility around your work location as required.

You’ll bring:
- Proven administration, task management, and relationship building skills
- A strong understanding of what excellent customer service looks like, and the ability to consistently deliver it
- Clear, confident interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Demonstrated experience taking accurate and well-structured meeting minutes
- Strong time management skills, with the ability to prioritise and meet competing deadlines
- Experience coordinating fluctuating workloads and adjusting priorities as needed
- Well-developed planning and organisational skills, with a high level of attention to detail and follow through
- Advanced capability using a range of computer systems and software, including the Microsoft Office suite
- Confidence setting up and improving office systems and processes, even where there is no existing precedent
- The ability to work effectively within institutional systems and processes
- Confidence using social media as part of an administrative role
- A clear understanding of the importance of confidentiality and discretion
- A commitment to Ara’s values and the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi
- An understanding of health and safety management practices and your responsibilities within the workplace
