Role Overview:

We are seeking an experienced CBT Expert Trainer to oversee the national roll-out of Online Support and Intervention for Child Anxiety (OSI). OSI is a NICE recommended digitally enabled parent-led CBT intervention for children aged 5 to 12 with anxiety difficulties. It has 3 components: a parent's website, a clinical case management website, and an optional game app for children.

This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in expanding access to leading evidence-based psychological therapies to help improve the clinical outcomes and quality of life for children with anxiety difficulties.

The ideal candidate will be a Clinical Psychologistor Therapist accredited in delivering CBT who has already delivered the “Helping Your Child with Fears and Worries” Parent-led CBT intervention and has delivered 10 or more OSI interventions covering cases with a range of presentations. They should also have a strong understanding of CYP (children and young person’s) mental health support within the NHS.

You will be responsible for training, supervising, and supporting cliniciansin NHS CYP services, thereby helping the services transition to a future in which digital is a more prominent part of the patient offer, while at the same time maintaining /enhancing the quality standards that characterize the national programme.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Training

  1. Deliver therapist training and support implementation of OSI.
  2. Provide continued training and skills groups for initial cohorts of NHS therapists and supervisors so they can start to develop a sustainable within service supervision and training model (a train-the-trainer system), including contributing to the development of suitability workshops and drop ins and delivering these sessions.
  3. Develop improved supervision structuresfor optimal delivery of digitally enabled therapies through constructive dialogue with services.
  4. Provide expert clinical supervisionto practitioners using OSI including responding to clinical queries from therapists via email.

Program Implementation & Oversight

  1. Contribute to clinical and programme meetings to support the national rollout of OSI.
  2. Collaborate with others in the clinical team to monitor and evaluatethe effectiveness of OSI in services.
  3. Establish best practicesand frameworks to standardize high-quality delivery across services.
  4. Develop content for a Community of Practice and moderated forum.

Strategic & Operational Leadership

  1. Act as a clinical ambassadorfor the OSI programme, engaging with NHS stakeholders and promoting adoption.
  2. Identify and address barriers to implementation, working proactively with teams to optimize uptake.
  3. Ensure alignment with the latest evidence-based practicesand digital therapy innovations.
  4. Maintain clinical expertise through ongoing practice in delivering and supervising OSI.

Selection Criteria

Training And Qualifications

  1. Must hold a BABCP accreditation as a CBT therapist and/or a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology and registration with the HCPC.

Experience

  1. A proven track record of delivering high quality assessment and face-to-face CBT interventions for child anxiety disorders, including parent-led CBT (using “Helping Your Child with Fears and Worries”) and has delivered 10 or more OSI interventions covering cases with a range of presentations.
  2. Experience of undertaking thorough risk assessments.
  3. Experience of delivering CBT treatment effectively remotely.

Knowledge and Skills

  1. Good diagnostic skills and knowledge of common anxiety disorders in CYP.
  2. Able to carry out competent psychological assessments ranging from mild to complex presentations.
  3. Knowledge of NICE recommended psychological interventions applied to people with mild-severe psychological distress.
  4. A keen interest in digital innovation and working in digital healthcare.
  5. Enthusiasm for OSI.

Desirable

  1. Experience providing clinical supervision to other clinicians.
  2. Experience facilitating groups with other clinicians and/or young people/parents.
  3. Experience having worked in or with MHST teams.
