Outcomes Technology Specialist
Job Summary
The Outcomes Technology Specialist supports the college’s outcomes assessment and accreditation by integrating data systems, implementing software solutions, optimizing electronic platforms, and developing internal applications and automation. The position streamlines information flow to advance educational effectiveness and accreditation readiness, partnering with faculty, staff, college and university administrators, to enable timely, data-informed decisions while upholding data integrity, accessibility, and privacy.
This is a temporary position for 6 months with the potential to be renewed contingent upon funding source.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Individuals must possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities or be able to perform the essential functions of the assigned classification, with or without reasonable accommodation(s), using some other combination of skills and abilities. Necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities are as follows:
Knowledge of:
- Advanced knowledge of relational databases, SQL queries, and database design in MySQL or MariaDB.
- Proficient understanding of using various APIs to facilitate data retrieval in scripts, applications, or other automations.
- Comprehensive knowledge on web-related technologies: HTML and CSS, XML and JSON, JavaScript and jQuery, React/Vue
- Familiarity with the Microsoft 365 suite of products, including but not limited to Power Apps, Power Automate, SharePoint, and Power BI (desktop & cloud).
Skill:
- Organizational skills and abilities to prioritize workload and complete detail-oriented assignments.
- Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skill to work well with limited guidance.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to articulate technical concepts clearly to individuals with limited technical knowledge or experience.
Ability to:
- Adapt quickly to new software platforms and development frameworks, while understanding the software development life cycle.
- Perform requirements gathering to effectively document and clarify project specifications.
- Translate design specifications into functioning software solutions.
- Work well with others in a team-oriented environment.
- Manage workload and meet deadlines and challenges in a professional manner.
- Multi-task in a fast-paced office setting.
- Demonstrate a commitment to working in an organization that values and promotes humanism.
Required Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Experience:
- 2+ years building production ETL/ELT pipelines.
- Strong SQL and data modeling in RDBMS (MySQL/MariaDB, Oracle, or SQL Server).
- Python for data automation (pandas, requests, PDF/regex parsing) and Linux scripting; Git.
- Experience with Microsoft PowerApps, Power Automate, SharePoint, and Power BI.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiar with API access/development (including Graph/REST API).
- Experience with Banner (as an ERP) and ODS (as a data warehouse) in higher education.
- Experience with LMS and ERP/data-warehouse integrations in higher education.
- Cloud exposure (AWS/Azure/GCP) and CI/CD for data projects.
- Experience in developing software solutions under Agile preferred.
- Relevant certifications aligned with the preferred qualifications are a plus.
Classification Pay Scale
In compliance with SB 1162, Western University of Health Sciences is providing a pay scale for this position. The pay scale reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for this position. Within this range, the individual pay is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, and work location. Please note that the compensation details listed reflects the base salary only.
Expected Pay Scale
- Minimum: $73,670.00 Annually
- Maximum: $73,670.00 Annually
