Outreach & Support Coordinator- Automotive

Job Summary

Incumbents execute campus recruitment plan including off-campus recruitment, event planning, campus visit program, targeting special populations, and other outreach activities to promote enrollment in the automotive program. Incumbents assist students with academic programs which include enrollment processes, course offerings, fees, course selection, test scores, financial aid eligibility and options, and other resources that will help students meet their educational and occupational needs.

Disclaimer: This position is funded through a grant and is contingent upon continued grant funding. Employment in this role is expected to conclude on June 30, 2028, unless additional funding is secured.

Essential Functions

  • Proactively assist in advisement of automotive students by creating a personalized education plan aligned with their career goal and a plan to fund their education.
  • Responsible for responding to early alerts with outreach to struggling students connecting them with academic and non-academic support resources.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of MCC Automotive programs, policies, procedures, and systems to effectively and accurately guide students.
  • Maintain knowledge of federal, state, and institutional policies and regulations pertaining to Federal Title IV, scholarships, tuition assistance, payment plans, and billing systems.
  • Coordinate with internal and external personnel, departments, and agencies to communicate information, serve as a liaison, and represent the MCC-Automotive programs.
  • Perform administrative tasks including providing general information via phone, email, or in-person; addressing concerns and complaints; scheduling appointments.
  • Plans and organize recruitment events, to include Automotive Days, high school visits and presentations, campus visits and presentations, contacting program participants and other relevant parties, coordinating logistics, and compiling program content.
  • Provides assistance to prospective students and others by answering questions related to the admissions process, automotive program, and other relevant information.
  • Promote and market MCC-Automotive programs with area high schools, career centers, industry partners, automotive dealerships, and the community.
  • Prepare, maintain, and update contact lists, communication materials, logs, and other documentation; maintain and update databases and online systems to record information and keep contact lists current.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Physical Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • One (1) year experience related to advising, education, counseling or financial aid

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of public speaking principles and practices
  • Knowledge of event planning principles
  • Knowledge of admission processes and requirements
  • Knowledge of filing principles and practices
  • Knowledge of customer service principles
  • Knowledge of training principles
  • Knowledge of recordkeeping principles
  • Knowledge of computers and related software applications
  • Skilled in coordinating recruitment activities
  • Skilled in planning campus recruitment events
  • Skilled in providing customer service
  • Skilled in maintaining operational records
  • Skilled in using a computer and related software applications
  • Skilled in prioritizing workload/task management
  • Skilled in utilizing communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, and others sufficient to exchange or convey

Physical Requirements

Positions in this class typically require grasping, hearing, keyboarding, reaching, repetitive motion, standing, talking, visual acuity, and walking. The work is sedentary work which requires exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly.
