Background of the recruitment and description of the project
National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST), one of the largest public research organizations in Japan, focuses on the creation and practical realization of technologies useful to Japanese industry and society.
Leveraging the diversity and comprehensive capabilities of its 8 research fields, approximately 2,300 researchers across 12 research bases are conducting research and development from a central and pioneering position within the national innovation ecosystem, in response to changes in the innovation landscape and in accordance with national strategies formulated in light of these changes.
Applicants for "Outstanding Research Scientist" are required to set research topics/subjects related to research conducted in 8 research departments based on AIST's management policy.
In addition to the originality and novelty of research subject setting as well as his/her research results, a researcher with excellent research skill and expertise on foreseeing the impact of research results and creativity are recruited.
We also welcome those who do not have a doctoral degree but who are motivated to utilize their practical experience at a company for the social implementation of AIST's R&D.

Benefits
Annual salary: 7 million yen
Wages description: Salaries will be determined based on ability, professional experience and performance. Annual salary is comprised of base annual salary and performance-based pay. Performance-based pay is decided annually based on research staff's performance.
At least approximately 7,500k JPY (before tax)
The model annual salary applies when the Discretionary Working Time System is in effect.
The model annual salary is the total of base annual salary, performance-based pay, and work responsibility allowance. It does not include commuting allowance, etc.
The model annual salary is for reference only and is subject to change due to revisions to AIST Salary Policy or other factors.
Working hours: 08:30-17:15
Break time: 12:00-13:00
Holidays: Sundays, Saturdays, public holidays, New Year holidays (from December 29 to January 3), Annual paid leave, Sick leave, Special leave (summer vacation, marriage, maternity, mourning), Parental leave of absence, Nursing leave of absence
Overtime and other explanations: Working hours may be flextime system, discretionary working time system, or standard hour system. The working hours shown is standard hour system. When the discretionary working time system applies, the employee is regarded as having worked 8.4 hours per day.
