Position Announcement
The Part-Time Pantry Coordinator supports the university's commitment to student well-being by managing the daily operations of the campus food pantry and ensuring students have consistent, dignified access to nutritious food and essential items. This position oversees inventory management, technology-based ordering systems, customer service, student worker supervision, community partnerships, and basic-needs programming. The Coordinator plays a key role in reducing food insecurity, fostering a welcoming and stigma-free environment, and strengthening campus-wide efforts that support student success. strategies. Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day food pantry operations, including opening and closing duties, scheduling, and staffing as needed, maintaining a clean and organized space, and ensuring a welcoming, student-friendly environment.
- Manage inventory: track item usage, rotate stock, monitor expiration dates, and coordinate weekly restocking.
- Ensure compliance with institutional policies, health and safety guidelines, and food-handling standards.
- Utilize and manage technology platforms for online ordering, client communication, inventory tracking, and supply management.
- Maintain accurate records of pantry utilization, inventory levels, and ordering needs.
- Conduct community food pick-ups from donors and coordinate safe transport using university vehicles.
- Coordinate donation pick-ups and deliveries from food banks, grocery stores, donors, and community partners.
- Provide excellent, trauma-informed, and confidential services to all pantry clients.
- Assist pantry clients with navigation of pantry services and connect them to additional campus and community basic needs resources.
- Collaborate with Student Affairs staff to support food security programs, outreach, awareness campaigns, and related events.
- Recruit, train, schedule, supervise, and provide ongoing coaching to student workers, interns, and volunteers who support pantry operations.
- Develop and manage pantry staff schedules to ensure consistent coverage during pantry hours.
- Manage basic needs programs and services as assigned.
- Prepare requested reports using university reporting systems; compile, analyze, and present data as required.
- Support assessment and continuous improvement efforts to enhance service quality and operational efficiency.
- Build and maintain partnerships with local organizations, food banks, grocery stores, non-profits, and campus departments.
- Assist with marketing, destigmatization campaigns, and outreach efforts to increase awareness and utilization of pantry services.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in food service or pantry operations, education, student services, basic needs programs, or related fields.
- Flexible availability to work up to 25 hours per week within the hours of 7:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., Monday - Friday.
- Proficiency with common technology tools (Google Workspace or Microsoft Office, online forms, spreadsheets, and inventory/order systems).
- Physical ability to frequently lift and move up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to obtain a Utah Food Handler's permit within 30 days.
- Valid Utah driver's license and the ability to be approved to drive and pick up donations from donors.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
- Strong written and oral communication skills and conflict resolution expertise.
- Commitment to maintaining strict confidentiality and treating all students with dignity and respect.
Supplemental Information
POSITION DETAILS, COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: Part-time hourly staff (overtime-eligible) position, working a minimum of 20 and a maximum of 25 hours per week Monday - Friday during the academic year, with reduced hours during the summer months (May - July) Hourly rate of $20.00+, depending on qualifications and experience.
