Under general supervision, performs skilled work at the journeyman level in the trade of painter and related job duties.

Prepares surfaces for painting or other coatings including cleaning, scraping, filling, repairing, sanding and masking; performs exterior and interior caulking.
Estimates job-related materials needed to complete assignment.
Mixes and prepares paint and allied coatings.
Safely erects and dismantles scaffolds and ladders; operates aerial lifts; paints from scaffolds and ladders.
Applies (brushes, rolls and sprays) appropriate primers, sealers, paint, allied coatings and finishes to all types of interior and exterior building surfaces, fixtures and furnishings.
Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes workplace safety; cleans and maintains brushes and other related equipment; properly stores and/or disposes of all unused paint and related material.
Assists Glass Technician with installation of glass; cuts and installs glass.
Refinishes furniture including wood surface preparation, staining and sealing.
Installs or replaces vinyl floor tile and cove.
