The Cardiac Procedures Unit is currently seeking a Paramedic to join its established RN, Medical Assistant, and clerical team in the prep area. This position is located in the Cardiovascular Center.

Characteristic duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Measure, report, interpret, and record vital signs, cardiac rhythm, for assigned patients in the ED and during diagnostic imaging procedures.
Measure and record intake and output
Obtain venous and arterial blood samples and process specimens.
Perform peripheral intravenous catheter insertion and initiation of fluid therapy.
Provide comfort measures, transport and ambulate patients.
Initiate C-spine immobilization, including rigid cervical collar and backboard.
Apply splints and various orthopedic soft goods.
Clean and irrigate wounds. Apply clean and sterile dressings.
Assist with Respiratory care: set up nasal cannula, venti-mask, and non-rebreather.
Assist in prepping and monitoring patients for emergency procedures.
Perform adult male and female catheterization.
Provide ongoing monitoring and care for restrained patients.
Clean equipment and work area. Stock medical/surgical supplies, etc.
Provide basic response to medical emergencies within the UMHHC.
Respond as member of UMHHC cardiac arrest team.
Process patient care orders using the electronic ordering system may be required in certain areas.
Perform EKGs, monitor telemetry, answer call lights, and do patient rounding
Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements:

High school graduation or an equivalent combination or education and experience.
2 years of recent (within one year) experience as a Paramedic.
Current licensure as a Paramedic (A-EMT) by the State of Michigan.
Current Basic Life Support Provider verification.
Advanced cardiac Life Support Provider (ACLS).
This classification requires Primary Source Verification

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of Mi-chart/Epic Documentation
Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
Excellent clinical skills including but not limited to IV insertion, veni-puncture, and arrhythmia recognition.
Excellent organizational skills.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively under pressure of emergency situations.

1.0 FTE, 5 eight-hour shifts Monday-Friday. 0830-5pm. No weekends. No holidays.
