Professional Experience/ Qualifications:
- Experience using basic computer functions (especially Microsoft Office and Google Suite).
- Accuracy in work, including the ability to recognize and correct errors found in the course of performing other tasks.
- Ability to interact in a collegial manner with a culturally diverse group of faculty, staff, and students.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with cataloging.
- Experience with an integrated library system.
- Knowledge of MARC formats.
Education: College degree (associates or above), or an equivalent combination of education and library experience.

Other Information: Grade: PA. Location: Case Library. Other: Library/Mail Services/IT Tech Bargaining Unit position. Typical shift, subject to change based on the needs of the University is Monday-Friday 8:00 AM - 4:00PM or 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM. Accountabilities:
- Catalog books and other library resources in all subjects, languages, and scripts that have Library of Congress copy available. Includes time sensitive rush and reserve materials.
- Load, maintain, and delete packages of bibliographic records for electronic resources as necessary.
- Determine fullness and quality of bibliographic records and supply data as needed to meet national and local standards (table of contents information, local notes, subject and/or genre headings).
- Maintain connectivity between cataloged items and ILS output.
- Analyze our collection for gaps in metadata and user needs.
- Maintain and analyze the consistency and accuracy of the online catalog through recataloging, reclassification, transfer of items between collections, resolution of inventory problems, as well as maintaining consistency between the online catalog and other retrieval systems or services to which Colgate contributes.
- Upgrade, replace or delete bibliographic, authority, and item records as necessary.
- Assist in maintaining various digital projects as necessary.
- Assist other library departments as necessary with their projects, as it relates to information or data stored and discovered in the online catalog.
- Stay current on cataloging rules and practices by taking advantage of continuing education and professional development opportunities.
- Maintain daily statistics of cataloging output and submit a written summary of monthly activities to the department head.
