Part-Time Adjunct Instructor for GED Classes
Job Description
Montgomery College is currently accepting applications for possible openings as a part-time faculty member teaching in-person GED classes during the day at the MoCo Reconnect Drop-In Center in Rockville, MD. We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated teacher who exhibits a high degree of professionalism, a strong commitment to students, and the ability to motivate and educate in an engaging manner.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Teaching all areas required for completion of the GED®.
- Completing detailed, daily reports including tracking attendance and student completion of course objectives.
- Abiding by all College policies and procedures.
- Abiding by all policies and procedures set by the MoCo Reconnect Drop-In Center.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Education or related field, or in one or more areas covered on the GED® exam: Science, Mathematics, Language Arts or Social Studies.
- A minimum of 2 years experience teaching ABE-ASE classes or high school classes.
- Experience working with individuals from varied cultural, educational, and socioeconomic backgrounds, with the ability to apply trauma-informed practices.
- Proven experience in delivery of high quality, effective GED® instruction to adult learners.
- Demonstrated commitment to promoting belonging, inclusion, and multicultural competence.
- Access to a personal computer with internet outside of work location.
- Must be eligible to work in the United States without a sponsor.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Masters degree in education or related field, or in one or more areas covered on the GED® exam.
- Proven ability to deliver high quality GED® instruction meeting adult learning needs with focus on measurable outcomes.
- Background in counseling or related field with focus on trauma or trauma-informed care.
For degrees earned outside the U.S., a copy of your education equivalency must be included. Employees must live in Maryland or a state with payroll reciprocity.
