Department Information

INED promotes inclusive education for all by advancing language, literacy, and learning across multidisciplinary educational environments in research, teaching, and community-engaged partnerships. The INED department excels in preparing educators to meet the needs of marginalized groups through specialized concentrations in the high-need areas of Special Education, and TESOL. We aim to be leaders in the national discourse on literacy by emphasizing the use of evidence-based practices in language and literacy for ESOL and specialized populations. We integrate innovative approaches, such as the Universal Design and Avatar Labs, to provide personalized, field-based instruction. Our focus on family and community engagement, alongside asynchronous learning options, ensures a tailored, intentional approach that aligns with the KSU values of inclusivity and respect. Faculty are deeply engaged with students and the community while conducting impactful research, exemplifying our commitment to making a difference in education.
