Our Kennesaw campus is located at 1000 Chastain Road NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144. Our Marietta campus is located at 1100 South Marietta Parkway, Marietta, GA 30060.

Department Information

The Department of Geography and Anthropology is a student-centered department of excellence committed to fulfilling the mission of Kennesaw State University. Geography seeks to study and understand the distribution, dynamics, and interrelationships between humans and their physical environment. Geospatial Sciences applies geospatial technologies to analyze the spatial processes produced or modified by human-environment interactions. Job Summary

Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a pool of open rank, part-time and limited term faculty positions in the Department of Geography and Anthropology for the academic year 2025-2026. These positions are on an as needed, semester-by-semester basis. Rank is determined at the time of hiring and will be commensurate with credentials. These positions are for work to be performed in the state of Georgia.

Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate courses in Land Surveying. These courses are most often at an introductory level and include Surveying I, and Surveying I Lab.
  • Assignments to faculty in the pool are based on departmental needs and are for one or two courses per semester. Applicants may be asked to teach in various modalities (face-to-face, hybrid, and online) and courses may be assigned at the Kennesaw or Marietta campus.

Teaching assignments will be based on earned degrees and SACSCOC Faculty Credentials Guidelines.

Required Qualifications

For Part-Time Faculty

  • A Bachelor's degree in Land Surveying or a closely related field, Professional Land Surveyor Licensure in the state of Georgia (or neighboring state), and five or more years of experience is required at the time of hire.
  • OR
  • A Master's or terminal degree, or the foreign equivalent, in Geospatial Systems Engineering, Geographic Information Sciences, or a closely related field is required at the time of hire.
  • OR
  • A minimum of a Master's degree, or the foreign equivalent, in a non-related discipline with 18 graduate credit hours in the teaching discipline is required at the time of hire.

For Limited Term Faculty

  • A Master's or terminal degree, or the foreign equivalent, in Geospatial Systems Engineering, Geographic Information Sciences, or a closely related field is required at the time of hire.
  • OR
  • A minimum of a Master's degree, or the foreign equivalent, in a non-related discipline with 18 graduate credit hours in the teaching discipline is required at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Land Surveying Certification
  • Record of past teaching at the undergraduate level
  • Experience teaching on-line or hybrid courses
  • Experience with ESRI GIS and other Land Surveying-based software products
  • Experience with AutoCAD
