"Part-Time Assistant Women's Basketball Coach"

Christopher Newport University is seeking applicants for a part-time Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach. This position will assist the head coach with various aspects of the women’s basketball program to include but not be limited to recruiting, player development, scouting opponents, public relations, community outreach, monitor academic progress of student-athletes and other duties as assigned. This is a part-time position with a salary only and does not entitle the incumbent to Commonwealth of Virginia benefits.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

• Bachelor’s degree with coaching or competitive experience in basketball
• The ability to work a flexible schedule including nights and occasional overnight travel
• Knowledge of National Collegiate Athletics Association rules and regulations; successful applicants will actively ensure compliance with all Christopher Newport University, C2C, and NCAA Division III rules and regulations.
• Highly motivated, highly organized and skilled in time management
• Skilled in the use of a personal computer
• Ability to analyze situations and develop solutions
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills
• Skill in training or instructing student athletes
• Ability to manage people and projects
• Ability to foster positive internal and external public relations
