Part-Time Clinical Instructor
Job Summary
The School of Health Professions at Dalton State College invites applicants for a part-time instructor in Clinical work. The position is a temporary, part-time position on a semester-by-semester agreement based on need for the Fall 2023 and Spring 2024 semesters.
This position is responsible for supervising care provided by a group of nursing students (usually 6 to 10 students in a group) while they complete their clinical rotation in your area of specialty, for coordinating with clinicians at the clinical site to make student patient assignments, teaching students how to perform duties in the clinical site and answering their questions and evaluating your student's clinical work.
A complete application must include (1) Resume (2) Cover letter/letter of intent (3) *two current reference letters (within the last three months), and (4) transcripts of all college work. Unofficial transcripts will suffice for initial screening however official transcripts will be required upon employment. (5) Immunization records and current CPR. (6) Unencumbered GA and/or TN registered nursing license.

Responsibilities
- Interprets the mission and aim of the Department of Nursing in relation to the planning and delivery of nursing care, within the framework of the agency.
- Interprets the program curriculum to the nursing staff and other appropriate staff within the agency.
- Provides the students and the agency with documents determined by the course coordinator to be necessary, such as student schedules and students assignments.
- Serves as a role model.
- Maintains current clinical competency and knowledge.
- Completes all training as directed by the course coordinator as well as completes mandatory annual training as specified by DSC's human resources.
- Works with course coordinator and/or director of the program to evaluate the agency and unit for continued use as a clinical site.
- Completes clinical evaluation tool on each student at the conclusion of the rotation then submits this written summary to the course coordinator
Required Qualifications
- Must have an unencumbered GA and/or TN registered nurse (RN) license.
- An earned Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) in the field of expertise (minimum of an ASN level for the LPN Program).
- Applicants must provide evidence of a minimum of one-year nursing experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Earned master's degree in nursing
- Compact license
- MSN degree in the field of expertise
- Two years of nursing experience
- Clinical instructing experience
