Part-Time College Police Officer
Position Summary
Under direct supervision of the Chief of Police, the College Police Officer adheres to the guidelines as specified by the Policy Manual and the State Board of Education.
Local Hourly rate schedule for part-time College Police Officers as follows:
- 0-5 years experience = $20.00 per hr.
- 6-10 years experience = $21.00 per hr.
- 11-15 years experience = $22.00 per hr.
- 16-20 years experience = $23.00 per hr.
- 20-25 years experience = $24.00 per hr.
- 25+ years experience = $25.00 per hr.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
At a minimum, the essential functions of this position shall include:
- Monitors student gatherings on campus such as athletic events, etc. to ensure security and safety for the students, participants, and attendees.
- Locks outer doors and checks buildings and hallways after hours for signs of unusual activity.
- Issues tickets to violators of campus parking regulations.
- Monitors students and visitors to ensure compliance with college policies and regulations.
- Completes written offense reports immediately after an incident. All reports are written in clear, concise and standard English.
- Logs all activities in a daily log book.
- Makes scheduled tours of buildings and grounds by vehicle or walking to ensure security and watching for conditions that could result in injury or loss.
- Reports to supervisor or police authorities any unusual or suspicious activities or conditions.
- Reports to supervisor any incidence of student, visitor, driver or employee actions, which could result in injury or loss to others.
- Reads and follows guidelines set forth in “Manual of Rules & Regulations” for Campus Police.
- Recertifies on firearms range at least once annually.
- Lifts, carries and moves heavy objects within safety limits.

- Complies with ACCS and College policies, as well as state and federal laws.
- Ensures the positive promotion of the College and integration of all campuses within the College.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Meets minimum standards of an Alabama Peace Officer.
- Valid Alabama Drivers license.
- Displays a courteous manner when dealing with the public.
- Ability to tolerate considerable walking and 12-hour shifts.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- APOST certified.
- CDL license.
- Willing and able to complete CPR course.
