Part-Time Faculty: AIC 400 Art in LA (Fall 2025 Los Angeles, CA)
The SULA Program within the College of Visual and Performing Arts seeks a Part-Time Instructor to teach AIC 400 Art in LA, a three-credit hour course, during the Fall semester, 2025. This course is offered as part of the VPA LA Semester.
Explore art in Los Angeles by visiting art studios, studying Los Angeles based artists and critiquing work. Open to all students but required for Studio Art majors.

The VPA LA Semester is an immersive professional development program that provides students with a unique opportunity to work as interns in Los Angeles while taking academic courses taught by industry professionals.

Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree required, masters degree preferred.
- Career in studio art in Los Angeles with strong understanding and connections to the LA based arts community.
Responsibilities:
- Create syllabus for the course, class assignments, coordinate site visits and guest speakers, and create the grading rubric for the course.
- Preparation of lectures, projects or other student assignments.
- Maintaining regularly scheduled office hours.
- Presenting instruction based on the competencies and performance levels of the course.
- Meeting all designated class periods.
- If you are unable to meet your class due to illness or emergency, you should exercise your best effort to reschedule the class or to obtain a substitute. You must also notify the department chair of your absence and of your plan to cover the class.
- Submitting completed mid-semester progress reports and final grades according to University regulations.
- Grading student assignments and exams in timely manner.
- Providing departmentally sanctioned forms for completed student evaluations.
- Building a positive rapport with students and other faculty.
