Part-Time Faculty: Health and Happiness (Spring 2026)
Job Description
HEA 301 Health and Happiness (1 credit).
This course addresses health/wellness topics related to healthy living: personal health, stress, gratitude, nutrition and physical activity, substance abuse, happiness, grief, death and dying. Basic principles and theories of health education and promotion will be addressed.
Qualifications
- Masters degree required in exercise science, health or related field and previous college teaching experience preferred.

Responsibilities
- Developing and/or updating a class syllabus.
- Ordering the appropriate books and materials in advance of the class start date.
- Preparation of lectures, projects or other student assignments.
- Maintaining regularly scheduled office hours.
- Presenting instruction based on the competencies and performance levels of the course.
- Meeting all designated class periods. If you are unable to meet your class due to illness or emergency, you should exercise your best effort to reschedule the class or to obtain a substitute. You must also notify the department chair of your absence and of your plan to cover the class.
- Submitting completed mid-semester progress reports and final grades according to University regulations.
- Grading student assignments and exams in timely manner.
- Providing departmentally sanctioned forms for completed student evaluations.
- Participating in departmental meetings or workshops.
- Provide student proficiency data for NCATE (if required).
- Building a positive rapport with students and other faculty.
- Other responsibilities as indicated.

Pay Range
$1,731.61 - $1,783.56 per credit hour
Salary offers at Syracuse University will be based on education, experience, and relevant skills, as well as the academic or professional discipline of the position in the context of the home department, school, or college. Salary offers may also be influenced by prior relevant work or industry experience, where applicable. Faculty pay ranges are for 8.5 months salary unless otherwise specified.
