Portland Community College is accepting applications to be considered for Part-Time Faculty assignments in Welding. The Department will review applications in this pool as the need arises for new part-time faculty in this area.
This is NOT an announcement of a specific open position, but a Part-time Faculty Interest Pool, from which the department will identify applicants based on course assignment needs during the Academic Year. Your application may be considered for substitute assignments as well as full term class assignments.

Instructor Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Five years recent welding field experience (Five years recent teaching experience at the college level, industry training experience, or a combination may be substituted, year for year, for recent welding field experience.)
- Welding certifications in all areas of instruction are required within the first year of hire as follows: SMAW E-7018, 3G and 4G unlimited plate; GMAW E-70S6 (hardwire) 2G unlimited plate; FCAW – Dual Shield E 70 T1, 3G and 4G unlimited plate; FCAW – Inner Shield E 71 T8, 3G and 4G unlimited plated; GTAW 2 inch Pipe 6G position; SMAW 6 inch Pipe 6G position
Preferred Qualifications
- AAS in Welding Technology
For part time faculty, welding certifications related to the teaching assignments are required within the first year of hire, as follows: (detailed course-specific certifications listed in original text)

Part-time Faculty Compensation at PCC
Newly hired Part-time Faculty at PCC will generally start at Step 1 of the current salary schedule. Hourly rates are determine based upon the type of course taught (Lecture, Lab, or Lecture/Lab).
