Part-Time Faculty Lifelong Learning Institute Instructor
Montgomery College Lifelong Learning Institute, a program serving individuals ages 50 and over with short-term/non-credit courses, seeks an enthusiastic and dedicated instructor with a background and expertise in a specific subject area to teach a part-time course. Course topics range from Art, Art History, Brain Fitness, Computer Skills, History and Current Events, Human and Natural Science, Personal Enrichment, and Wellness. The instructor we seek must exhibit a high degree of professionalism, a solid commitment to our students, and demonstrate the ability to motivate and educate in an engaging manner.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare and develop course curriculum and session workplans.
- Deliver mini-lectures, activities, presentations, and discussions for non-credit, short-term classes, preferably a minimum of 5 hours per course.
- Manage classroom conduct and logistics.
- Administrative classroom responsibilities.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in appropriate concentration or the equivalent combination of education, training, certification, and/or experience that provides the required knowledge and expertise to perform the essential functions of the job may be considered.
- Extensive teaching experience.
- Proficiency in computer technology, such as e-mail and MS Office skills (MS Word and MS PowerPoint).
- Successful candidates will have a demonstrated commitment to promoting belonging, inclusion, and multicultural competence in an educational and work environment and must be willing to contribute to the Colleges strategic plan of inclusion.
- Faculty members are expected to have access to a personal computer with virus protection that can connect to the internet outside of the work location (i.e., office, classroom, college campus). Montgomery College (MC) provides an MC e-mail account and access to the learning platform, password-protected faculty sections of the website, college listservs, and other faculty communications tools. If you do not have access to a personal computer, please notify the department chair at the time of interview. Subject to available funds, the college may be able to provide temporary access to resources.
- Must be eligible to work in the United States without a sponsor.
Preferred Qualifications: Masters Degree preferred.
For degrees earned outside of the U.S., a copy of your education equivalency, conducted by a nationally recognized evaluation service, must be included in your application.
Employees must live in Maryland or a state where the College has payroll reciprocity (DC, VA, PA, WV, DE, MA).
