Part-time Faculty, Museum Studies

Teach upper-level courses on museum curation, interpretation, and public history. Work alongside public history interns, offering guidance and oversight when appropriate. Collaborate with the Youngstown Historical Center of Industry and Labor (YHCIL) as well as campus and community partners. Must be able to provide regular in-person instruction as assigned.

Plans, organizes, teaches, and provides feedback to promote and direct student success. Responds to students in a timely manner. Communicates with students, departments, and university officials via university provided tools and resources.

Work Schedule:Typically, Monday through Friday. Teaching assignments may be remote or at various locations. Locations include Youngstown Campus and YHCIL.

Required Certifications, Training, and/or Licensures:None

Sponsorship and/or Work Authorization Status:Must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Minimum Qualifications: At least a master's degree in public history, museum studies, or library and information science (MLIS) with a focus on curation or collections; or a bachelor's degree in museum studies or history plus at least five years of professional experience. Must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Preferred Qualifications:Collections management and curation experience. Ability to teach best practices and methods in 3-D and archival curation. Teaching in person on site. Background using Past Perfect and other comparable collections management software. Familiarity with digitization of collections.

Physical Requirements:In accordance with the U.S. Department of Labor physical demands strength ratings, this position will perform medium.

Medium: work involves exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, or an amount greater than negligible and up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
