Office Hours Required Job Type: Part Time Rank: PTI/Adjunct Campus: Syracuse, NY Unionized Position Code: UA Job Description: The School of Education seeks a Part-Time Professor for  PPE 325 - The Philosophy, Principles and Organization of Athletics in Education (3 credits) Course Description: The course covers basic philosophy and principles as integral parts of coaching education, physical education, and general education; State, local and national regulations and policies related to athletics; legal considerations; function and organization of leagues and athletic associations in New York State; personal standards for the responsibilities of the coach as an educational leader; public relations; general safety procedures; general principles of school budgets, records, purchasing and use of facilities. Qualifications: Master's degree required. Job Specific Qualifications: Responsibilities: Developing and/or updating a class syllabus. Ordering the appropriate books and materials in advance of the class start date. Preparation of lectures, projects or other student assignments. Maintaining regularly scheduled office hours. Presenting instruction based on the competencies and performance levels of the course. Meeting all designated class periods. If you are unable to meet your class due to illness or emergency, you should exercise your best effort to reschedule the class or to obtain a substitute. You must also notify the department chair of your absence and of your plan to cover the class. Submitting completed mid-semester progress reports and final grades according to University regulations. Grading student assignments and exams in timely manner. Providing departmentally sanctioned forms for completed student evaluations. Participating in departmental meetings or workshops. Provide student proficiency data for NCATE (if required). Building a positive rapport with students and other faculty. Other responsibilities as indicated.
