Part-time Faculty WDCE Management & Leadership Instructor
Job Description
The Montgomery College, Rockville Campus, is currently accepting applications for possible openings as a part-time faculty member teaching WDCE Management & Leadership. We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated teacher who exhibits a high degree of professionalism, a strong commitment to our students, and demonstrates the ability to motivate and educate in an engaging manner.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging, practical instruction in management and leadership courses aligned with industry-recognized certifications or licensure requirements.
- Adapt teaching strategies to meet the needs of adult learners, working professionals, and non-traditional students.
- Design, revise, and update course materials to reflect current industry standards, certification exam objectives (e.g., PMP, SHRM), and employer needs.
- Ensure content aligns with credentialing body requirements and state or national workforce development goals.
- Provide academic and career guidance to help learners achieve certification, licensure, or career advancement as needed.
- Offer individualized support, mentoring, and exam preparation strategies for adult learners.
- Collaborate with local employers, workforce boards, and professional organizations to ensure training meets labor market demand through customization.
- Integrate real-world case studies, or experiential learning opportunities into courses.
- Develop assessments and practice exams that prepare students for certification or licensure tests.
- Monitor and report student progress and outcomes, including certification pass rates and employment impact.
- Stay current with industry trends, credentialing updates, and workforce development best practices.
- Participate in ongoing training, conferences, or credential maintenance relevant to the field.
- Follow Workforce Development and Continuing Education contract guidelines including taking attendance and entering grades upon completion of class.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Management, Leadership, Human Resources, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of professional experience in management, supervision, leadership development, or organizational training.
- Experience in adult education, corporate training, or teaching in higher education, preferably in a non-credit, workforce, or continuing education setting.
- Demonstrated understanding of workforce dynamics, team leadership, or strategic planning in real-world settings.
- Possession of industry-recognized certifications such as: Project Management Professional (PMP), SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP, Certified Manager (CM), Lean Six Sigma (Green/Black Belt), Train-the-Trainer or Instructional Design certifications (optional but valuable).
- Successful candidates will have a demonstrated commitment to promoting belonging, inclusion, and multicultural competence in an educational and work environment and must be willing to contribute to the Colleges strategic plan of inclusion.
- Faculty members are expected to have access to a personal computer with virus protection that can connect to the internet outside of the work location (i.e., office, classroom, college campus). Montgomery College (MC) provides an MC e-mail account and access to the learning platform, password-protected faculty sections of the website, college listservs, and other faculty communications tools. If you do not have access to a personal computer, please notify the department chair at the time of interview. Subject to available funds, the college may be able to provide temporary access to resources.
- Must be eligible to work in the United States without a sponsor.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree (especially for higher-level certifications or program coordination roles).
For degrees earned outside of the U.S., a copy of your education equivalency, conducted by a nationally recognized evaluation service, must be included in your application.
Employees must live in Maryland or a state where the College has payroll reciprocity (DC, VA, PA, WV, DE, MA).
