Part-Time Field Placement Supervisor for Education
Job Summary
South Georgia State College is seeking a qualified and dedicated Part-Time Field Placement Supervisor to support students in the Education program. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising and mentoring preservice elementary teachers during their school placements.
Duties my extend to course instruction.
Responsibilities
Supervision -
- Schedule observation sessions for each assigned students.
- Supervise and evaluate Education program students in their assigned school placement sites.
- Provide written and verbal constructive feedback to foster students' growth and development in elementary and special education settings.
On Site Visits -
- Conduct on-site visits to observe and assess students’ teaching performance.
- Observe teacher candidates in person and through recorded videos.
Program Goals -
- Support the goals of the Professional Development Community (PDC) model by promoting collaboration between students, mentor teachers, and school administrators.
Department Meetings -
- Be available for in-person supervision meetings.
All Other Duties -
- Perform all other related duties as assigned by supervisor
Communication -
- Maintain accurate communication records with teacher candidates.
- Professionally communicate with mentor teachers and principals in the field.
Travel Requirements -
- May require travel to all SGSC campuses and sites.
- Must be able to travel to visit each student in their school placement.
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
The completion of a master's degree plus 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching discipline.
Other Required Qualifications
Experience in elementary education, early childhood education, or special education.
Strong understanding of instructional strategies and classroom management.
Ability to mentor, guide, and support preservice teachers.
Willingness to travel to all South Georgia State College campuses and designated school placement sites.
Technology skills and good interpersonal skills are required.
Preferred Qualifications
Additional Preferred Qualifications
Georgia teaching certificate.
Preferred Experience
Three years teaching experience in a public-school K-5 setting.
