Job Profile Summary

The Admission International File Reader will be responsible for reading applications submitted by international students and making a recommendation regarding admission. A primary focus includes the thorough evaluation of secondary school transcripts and supporting credentials, as well as, an analysis of financial documents. It will be necessary to have a close working relationship with the Director of International Recruitment and the application processing staff responsible for preparing international applications for review. Though the file reader will work from home/off-campus, the person in this position will be expected to communicate regularly with the International Recruiter. In addition, the off-site reader is required to attend a paid on-campus training session to take place in late November.

Essential Functions Statement(s)

  • Evaluate the applications of international students to determine admissibility.
  • Identify additional materials that would be helpful in determining admissibility.
  • Make recommendations regarding the admission of candidates.
  • Collaborate with the Director of International Recruitment on consistency of file evaluation.
  • Be available for one call per week to discuss, in committee, candidates and scholarship awards.
  • Other duties as assigned.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education: Minimum of a bachelor's degree

Experience: One or more years of admission experience required.

Computer Skills: Slate experience preferred. Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and Google Mail.

Other Requirements

  • Working knowledge of foreign educational systems grading scales and curricula.
  • Ability to interpret foreign transcripts.
  • Ability to evaluate financial documents.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills are required, both written and verbal.
  • Outstanding time-management skills and a demonstrated ability to successfully manage time commitments are required.
  • The appropriate candidate will be competent with technology and its application in higher education, have strong administrative and operational skills and be a self-starter who works well independently.
  • Internet access required.
