"Part Time - Junior Research Scientist - Short Term: (PI: Dr.Ryan Ruff )"

We are seeking a highly motivated Junior Research Scientist to join the PRISMS lab under Associate Professor Ryan Ruff in the department of Epidemiology and Health Promotion. The department includes faculty with interdisciplinary expertise who conduct research across the public health sciences, with a particular focus on oral health. This grant-funded research project will conduct data-driven analyses in health and biomedical sciences. The successful candidate will contribute to all phases of the research process, including data management, statistical analysis, and the development of reproducible code using R.

In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the hourly rate for this position is $30.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the specific grant funding and the terms of the research grant when extending an offer.

This is a short-term (4 months), part-time position that will investigate the longitudinal prevention and arrest capabilities of silver diamine fluoride using data from a pragmatic clinical trial.

Candidates should possess a minimum of a BA/BS (Master’s preferred), preferably in statistics, data science or a related field.

No prior experience necessary, but familiarity with clinical trial design and public health datasets is welcome. The role requires strong programming skills in R and a solid foundation in statistical methods. Ideal candidates will be detail-oriented, collaborative, and eager to apply their technical expertise to real-world research questions in a dynamic, interdisciplinary environment.
