Position Duties and Responsibilities
10%-Curriculum Development
- Update curriculum content for effective education delivery. Existing course curriculum information can be found at https://mnltap.umn.edu/training/catalog/math
- Work with CTS to strategize schedule, timing, and class materials.
- Lead, present, and provide mathematics instruction and establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
- Use digital tools to provide instruction and feedback.
- Provide appropriate feedback on student questions and course work.
- Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use information to adjust teaching strategies.

The Research and Innovation Office (RIO) and the Center for Transporation Studies (CTS) endorses a "work with flexibility" approach that offers a welcoming and flexible work environment where everyone is inspired to do their best. Work location options include working fully remote, partially remote, or entirely in the office and are based on the work of the position. Some on-site work may be necessary for certain positions, even those designated as fully remote.
This position has been designated as eligible for Flexible Work Profile Four.
Profile 4, Fully Remote - Only occasionally visiting the office.
Typically spends 4 or less days per month working in the office/lab on average. Your dedicated office space will be in your remote work location.
CTS management retains the right to modify flexible work arrangement agreements on a temporary or permanent basis for any reason at any time.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Previous experience instructing, teaching, knowledge transfer and providing technical assistance.
- Demonstrated excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Commitment to engaging students in a meaningful way.
- Available to teach mornings and/or days.
- Experience with a learning management system (LMS) (i.e. Canvas, Blackboard, Moodle, 360 Learning)
- Experience with a video conference platforms (i.e. Zoom, Teams, WebEx)
The Center for Transportation Studies (CTS) is a unique University of Minnesota center that conducts transportation research, education, and outreach programs in a broad number of areas. The Center currently operates with a total annual budget of over $22 million and works with over 25 academic departments throughout the University. CTS consists of approximately 25 professional staff and 15-20 students who deliver the Center's multiple programs. The Center is funded primarily through sponsored funds from local and national sources and maintaining long-term funding stability requires strong relationships with various funders and other transportation stakeholders.
Pay and Benefits
Pay Range: $111.00 per hour
