Part-Time Nursing Clinical Support Faculty (480 hours annually)

Carroll University is seeking a highly motivated and clinically experienced nurse to join our nursing faculty team as a part-time clinical instructor. The ideal candidate will have a passion for teaching and the ability to provide high-quality clinical education and mentorship to nursing students in a dynamic, clinical practice environment. As a part-time clinical faculty member, you will play an essential role in supporting the development of nursing students' clinical skills and knowledge.

Key Responsibilities:

• Clinical Instruction: Teach and supervise nursing students in clinical and laboratory/simulation settings guiding them in the application of nursing theory to practice or lab simulation settings.
• Assessment & Evaluation: Evaluate students' clinical performance and provide constructive feedback to help students grow in their clinical practice.
• Collaboration: Work closely with full-time faculty and clinical staff to ensure a cohesive and integrated learning experience for students.
• Curriculum Support: Contribute to the development and updating of the nursing program's clinical curriculum and teaching materials as needed.
• Adherence to Standards: Ensure compliance with the accreditation requirements, nursing standards, and institutional policies during clinical education activities.
• Professional Development: Stay current with nursing practice and educational trends by participating in professional development opportunities.

Qualifications:

Education:

• Minimum of a master's in nursing (MSN) or higher
• Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in [State/Region].

Experience:

• Minimum of 2 years of clinical nursing experience, with expertise in medical surgical nursing.
• Previous teaching or precepting experience is preferred but not required.

Skills & Competencies:

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to effectively teach and evaluate students in clinical, lab/simulation settings.
• Knowledge of current trends in nursing education and practice.
• Ability to collaborate with faculty, staff, and clinical partners.
• Commitment to the development of nursing students and the promotion of a positive learning environment.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to move or lift equipment and assist students in a clinical environment.
• Ability to work long hours standing or moving in a clinical setting.

The Program: The Nursing Department is approved by the Wisconsin State Board of Nursing and accredited by CCNE. Since 2010, Carroll nursing graduates have had an above average NCLEX RN pass rate of 95%-100%. The program utilizes a state of the art, 15,000 square foot, nursing simulation laboratory in the newly constructed Douglas N. and Nancy J. Hastad Hall which opened in January 2018. The Department of Nursing has a strong record of private foundation support and federal grant funding through Human Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), Health and Human Services (HHS). Current practicum affiliations include health systems in southeastern Wisconsin and community health agencies.

College: The College of Health Sciences offers undergraduate and graduate programs through seven departments-Public Health, Athletic Training, Human Movement Sciences, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Physician Assistant Studies. Health sciences account for ~60% of the University enrollment. The mission of the College of Health Science is to educate students to be innovative professionals who collaborate to serve the health needs of their communities.
